Exclusive Interview
Who Is Paula Moreno Torralbo?
Paula is a Spanish fashion photographer who, since she was very young, knows what she wanted to dedicate.
How would you describe your style?
My style is completely fashion photography, and for a few months I've been focusing on editorial style.
Where do you find your inspiration / what inspires you?
My inspiration comes from many sites, but mainly from instagram or pinterest. I have two influensers that are the source of my inspiration: Jessica Goicoechea and Tezza.
Were you born with a camera in your hand or at what point did you start?
My beginnings in photography started when I was about 12 years old and my father gave me a digital camera, from which I was not separated and with which I was taking pictures of everything around me. Soon after, I started taking pictures with my friends and when I was 17, I decided to study photography.
What gear do you most enjoy using at the moment and why?
My current equipment is a Canon 5D mark iv, a Sigma Art 35mm 1.8 lens, a Sigma 24-70mm 2.4, a Canon 85mm 1.8 and a Canon 50mm 1.4.
I usually use the Sigma 35mm more because I like to give my photos an angular view, I mostly like whole-plane photos, but also one of my essential is the Sigma 24-70mm since I can opt for a more open angle and at the same time I can make more closed planes.
What do you look for when scouting new locations?
When I look for new locations I notice a lot on the kind of lighting you can have throughout the day, the game of lines and spaces in which I can move and where I glue with my style, even though sometimes I prefer to leave my comfort zone and look for places totally opposed to my style.
What advice would you share with aspiring photographers?
The advice I would give to someone who is starting in this world is; that you don’t stop practicing, of taking pictures of different styles, of practicing various editing styles. And above all that they don’t lose the illusion of doing something that really appeals to them.
What have you got coming up in 2021, that you are super excited about?
This 2021, despite the situation we are experiencing because of the pandemic, I am very eager to continue with the theme of fashion publishers with which I am gradually more satisfied and with the appearance in magazines thanks to these publishers.
And I also hope that my work will grow and that I can finally dedicate myself fully to photography.
